?Merck Curiosity Cube?

Our 3rd and 4th class pupils had the honour of being the first pupils in Europe to experience the Merck Curiosity Cube when it visited Carrigtwohill, to launch its European Tour.
The Curiosity Cube is a retrofitted shipping container that features hands-on science experiments designed to spark student interest in STEM careers. It aims to engage young minds by inspiring curiosity and increasing access to hands-on science for students.
The pupils had the opportunity to use robots, digital microscopes and other scientific instruments to learn about the microbiome through three interactive experiments. They even created their own unique microbiome based on various choices made throughout their day like brushing their teeth or having fruit with breakfast.
Merck also arranged for an ice cream van to treat the whole school. To top it off, Ms Moylan was presented with a cheque for €1000 to purchase STEM equipment for the school.

A huge thank you to Merck and the 11 volunteers that facilitated this amazing experience for our pupils, and future scientists!

The CURIOSITY CUBE continues its tour as it travels across Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. To learn more about the Curiosity Cube® and view the complete 2022 tour schedule, visit TheCuriosityCube.com and follow the Curiosity Cube® on Instagram @curiositycube_merck.
